I went outside today and the birds were still singing. The squirrels were still chasing each other from tree limb to tree limb, rooftop to rooftop. The warm, fresh smells of spring drifted on a gentle breeze throughout the neighborhood, like apple pies cooling on a windowsill.
And then I encountered people.
Oh, right.
Somebody must’ve forgotten to give us the memo stating that it’s business as usual here on God’s green Earth.
Every single wild animal, insect, tree, and even blade of grass is going about its daily routine with complete disregard for our nonsense. Maybe we could learn something from them.
