Theater of the Mind

I’ve loved old time radio drama since I was a kid. We used to buy sets of the cassettes before going on trips, and I’d listen to them over and over again on my Walkman. Shows like Lux Radio Theater’s production of Alfred Hitchcock’s Shadow of a Doubt, Suspense!, X-1, Superman, and several others. Later on, when the internet became a thing, I was able to find thousands of episodes of all kinds of shows, and I’d listen to them all night at work during my third shift days.

They’re easier to find and listen to than ever nowadays. YouTube, Spotify, whatever you listen to podcasts with, internet archive, etc. Do yourself a favor and check out The CBS Radio Mystery Theater, a radio drama revival series which ran throughout the ’70s and into the very early ’80s. Most episodes are available online. Spotify has a bunch. If you’re into podcast dramas, check out the original podcast dramas.
