In 1987, when I was in the fifth grade, I heard a song called “Welcome to the Jungle” that instigated a major paradigm shift in my musical tastes. I will never get tired of Appetite For Destruction,” or it’s less-praised follow up albums, which I think are brilliant. I checked Iron Maiden off my bucket list two years ago, and now, finally, after all these years, my wife and I are going to see Guns N’ Fucking Roses for our anniversary.
We are going to see Axl, Slash and Duff onstage together. We can’t afford vacations, and life is a day-to-day struggle with health issues, mental health issues, and mounting debt. We deserve this. I can’t wait.
Shit, I’d love to see that show.
One time I was at a show, it was the band Saxon, and word was spreading that Matt Sorum, formerly of GNR was backstage. His wife is from here(Oklahoma City.). So anyway, I was like well shit, I’m going back there. So I did, and he was so drunk. He was all “Heeeeey man, good to seeya again, how ya been???” Hugging on me and stuff. I don’t know who he thought I was, but I’m just standing there, drunk myself, feeling like I was having an out-of-body experience hanging out with someone who’d been in Guns N’ Roses.
That’s funny. Good thing he didn’t think you were someone who owed him money.
